ABOUT MY CLASSES

Reformer Pilates

My Reformer Pilates classes begin with careful postural analysis to understand how your body moves, compensates, and holds tension. By identifying muscular imbalances, movement patterns, and areas of weakness or overuse, I design a program tailored specifically to your individual needs and goals. Whether you are managing pain, recovering from injury, improving posture, or seeking a stronger, more balanced body, each session is customised to address your unique problem areas while still offering a full-body workout.

Using the versatility of the Reformer, we work to build strength, mobility, stability, and coordination in a safe and intelligent way. The spring resistance allows exercises to be both supportive and challenging, making Reformer Pilates suitable for rehabilitation, injury prevention, and high-performance conditioning alike. Sessions focus on deep core activation, joint alignment, efficient movement, and integrated whole-body strength.

With over 10 years of Reformer teaching experience, I am APMA and STOTT-trained, bringing a strong foundation in anatomy, biomechanics, and precision-based movement. My approach combines technical expertise with a clear, supportive teaching style, helping you move with more ease, strength, and confidence in your body—both in the studio and in everyday life.

Contemporary Dance

We begin class with an awareness of the self, the body, and the surrounding space.
Stretching, strengthening, spinal awareness, footwork, plies and improvisation are incorporated into the warm-up.

The class progresses with the use of release techniques, fast dynamic changes of directions, and dropping into and out of floor and jumping sequences. Kate encourages everyone to explore their own unique ways of moving, to be clear about where the movement begins, and to practice their own rhythm and fluidity. Kate’s teaching is shaped by classical dance training, and by Pilates, integrating anatomy, alignment, balance, spatial awareness, motor control, coordination, strength, and flexibility. More complex dance choreographies are taught towards the end of class. Kate’s classes are challenging but aim for the dancer to find their edge and to leave the class feeling as though they have expressed themselves and progressed. They can cater to varying levels, abilities, and mindsets, and self-directed research, exploration, problem solving, and self-motivation are encouraged.

Mums and Babies Pilates

If you’re a mother returning to excercise and possibly feeling nervous, this class is for you. Kate’s mums and babies pilates class is friendly, supportive and about regaining strength and confidence in your body while connecting with other mothers. Class is a whole-body, low-impact workout with a focus on pelvic floor and core muscles, catering to mothers at all post natal stages returning to exercise. We do not use your baby as a weight or prop in class. Rather, you have your child on the floor with you in a safe enclosed area.

My goal in offering mother-baby classes is to bring mothers together who may feel isolated and scared to come back to excercise and cannot align the time with a sitter.
