Kate Fitzgerald - dancer & dance/ pilates/ barre teacher
Born in Melbourne, Australia, but currently working and teaching in Europe, Kate is a contemporary dancer,
teacher, choreographer and certified Pilates and barre instructor. Throughout her career, she has worked
and performed with dance companies in Australia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
Kate received her training from Dance World 301 and the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.
MOVING IN SMALL SPACES ORIGENS
Moving in Small Spaces has been an act of discovery born out of our collective time in lockdown. When dance studios and gyms closed down, dance, yoga and fitness teachers had to get creative. We were forced into teaching online and finding new and unique ways to stay fit and keep moving.
In creating Moving in Small Spaces, I sought to provide a service to my community that kept people moving and feeling hopeful. Through this program, we were able to keep moving in small spaces even when confined. We stayed connected and continued to move and sweat together online.
Many find this programme continues to fit into their lifestyle in ways that traditional in-person classes cannot. Not only can you keep moving in the comfort and privacy of your own home, but . . . it’s an easier commute.
The recent arrival of my daughter reinforces my desire to help others who are having trouble leaving the house for exercise, especially new mothers and prenatal women. With Moving in Small Spaces, no babysitter is needed and it’s time-efficient, pre- and post-natal friendly, and a joyous way to interact with your newborn.
Kate is also teaching barre and pilates for mums and babies in studio
As a teacher, I break the boundaries between teacher and student,
reminding you how I am a perpetual student by dancing with you.
Growing up as a twin with four siblings, sharing is an essential part of how I function. I encourage self-directed research, exploration, problem solving and self-motivation.
Even in moments of doubt or puzzlement, as a teacher I will calmly guide you every step of the way.
